TÜV - German Technical Supervisory Authority

This certification mark is awarded for a product that does not only fulfill the European standard for toy safety EN71 but is also additionally tested for harmful substances. It certifies that the item complies with all safety and health requirements which are partly even stricter than those of the European Toy Directive. The quality is checked regularly in random samples during routine production. The inspection needs to be renewed after 1 year.

spiel gut  - Good Toy

The association spiel gut Arbeitsausschuss Kinderspiel + Spielzeug e. V („Good toy“) from Ulm/Germany examines and evaluates toys. It also provides information about the importance of play for children’s physical, mental and social development. The working committee consists of about 40 experts from various areas like education, psychology, sociology, medicine, design, engineering, environment and other occupational areas. Expert panels meet regularly to select and recommend good toys. The individual toys are tested with children and the evaluation is based on strict criteria. The seal of approval “spiel gut” is the only education-orientated design award.

CE Marking

...is a mandatory conformity mark for products placed on the market within the EU. With the CE marking on a product the manufacturer resp. distributor ensures in self-responsibility that the product is conform with the essential requirements of the applicable EC directives EN 71. The CE-marking is hence not a test mark but a conformity mark.

UV Protection

This logo labels garment fabrics and textile material for shading with functional UV protection that filter the harmful fraction of the natural UV-radiation. This testing is performed according to Australian/New Zealand standard AS/NZS4399. UPF ratings range from 15+ to 50+ with higher ratings indicating more effective blocking and therefore better protection for the wearer of a garment made from the fabric. The evaluation is based on health criteria that extend beyond legal guidelines and considers the sun protection factor of the end product.

ICTI-Code

On a voluntary basis, Sterntaler responded to the challenge of meeting the ICTI-Code (International Council of Toy Industries) which defines the working conditions in Asian production sites and was the first German producer who had all their toy production sites certified.

When producing Sterntaler toys, quality and safety are the number one priorities. High quality material which is free from harmful substances is carefully processed on the highest technical standard..

Safety always comes before style to avoid all possible injuries and risks.

In order to guarantee this high standard without any breaks in the production chain, there are not only intensive quality checks at the production sites but also further inspections prior to delivery.

Furthermore, since more than 15 years, Sterntaler has been having their toys tested on a voluntary basis by the German technical inspection agency TÜV and every season all fabrics are being tested according to the Oeko Tex-Standard.

To Sterntaler it is not only the quality of the products themselves which is of great importance but also the quality of the production sites is a matter of particular concern.
