company history
Modern design, conscious of tradition
Sterntaler has stood as a synonym for high value quality products for young children from the start - as a company and as a brand. The company, initially limited to baby shoes, was founded in 1965 in Dornburg-Dorndorf. Alfons and Käte Koch, the founding partners, quickly extended their range in accordance with the increasing demand. Headwear, toys, socks, tights, play blankets, discovery gym, gloves, scarves and other accessories for small children were added at the end of the sixties and in the early seventies. The design and development of the products and the twice-yearly changes of the collection are managed from the headquarters in Dorndorf to this day. Until 1987, the high quality collections were produced exclusively in Germany; they have been produced in our own production subsidiaries in the Czech Republic and Thailand as well since then. Today, the family company, which is in its second generation, is the market leader in the accessories sector and regards itself as a strong partner of specialized trade. Over 500 highly motivated employees worldwide, 170 of them in Germany, are optimistic about the challenges of the future. The consistent emphasis on quality, the high readiness to serve and a strong identification with the brand and the Sterntaler Company are the basis of the further successful development of the innovative company, which is conscious of tradition and quality.
